Street Furniture

The Town Council continues to provide and maintain some of the seats, flags, entrance signs, planters, bus shelters, notice boards and fingerposts around the town. Maintenance is carried out on a rolling programme. If you need to inform us of any issues with street furniture please do let us know: enquiries@matlock.gov.uk 01629 538042.

Our planting programme has recently been reviewed as part of the Council’s declaration of a Climate and Ecological Emergency. Traditionally planters in the town were filled with annual bedding plants, which were disposed of at the end of each season. From summer 2020 our planters will contain a range of shrubs and perennials, making them more sustainable. Where possible these plants will be grown in peat-free compost and the compost we use ourselves will all be peat-free. We are selecting plants that are good for pollinators such as bees and butterflies, making them an asset for wildlife in the town.

We also manage several Grit Bins in Matlock. Any issues with these bins (including requests for refilling or new bins) need to be directed to Derbyshire County Council who will refer queries on to us if the bin you are concerned about belongs to us.
